Cracked rail discovered near Forest Glen Metro
Metro says it discovered a cracked rail outside the Forest Glen Metro station in the direction of Shady Grove Wednesday that caused mid-day delays in both directions on the Red Line.
Trains had to share a single track between the Forest Glen and Silver Spring stations until a repair crew placed a brace on the cracked rail as a temporary fix. The repair crew is expected to return later in the evening to install a permanent fix.
Riders should expect minimal delays throughout the rush hour period. Service is expected to be back to normal on Thursday morning.
