1 man killed, 1 injured in NE shooting

By Martin Weil

A 29-year-old man was fatally shot early Sunday in Northeast Washington, D.C. police said.

They said Aaron Woodfork was found fatally wounded in the 2100 block of Bladensburg Road about 3:30 a.m.

A second man was apparently wounded in the same incident in which Woodfork was killed, police said. He was taken to a hospital.

The site of the shooting is 200 to 300 yards northeast of the busy Bladensburg Road intersection with New York Avenue and near the railroad overpass.

This is another useless killing. Mr. Aaron worked at my daughters day care and was loved by all the children. My daughter has known Aaron since she started going to before and aftercare in kindergarted and is now in the sixth grade, but this goes for many kids that grew up with him and have gotten to know and love him by seeing him every day for six years. He was a sweetheart always with a calm demeanor. This can't be right. He will be missed.

I agree, yes D.C. has its share of killings but heck, you aren't safe anywhere. The sad thing is that this was a young intellingent young man that was killed for no reason.
