2 arrested after child found wandering

Prince William County police said two women from Woodbridge have been arrested after a 2-year-old girl in their care wandered away from their licensed home day care during a rainstorm Monday, the News & Messenger reports.

Edy Ruth Chamul, 49, of 1500 Carter Lane in Woodbridge, and Liz Margareth Juarez Portillo, 31, were charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor and are scheduled to appear in court Sept. 28, said Jonathan Perok, a police spokesman.

The child was found by a neighbor on Carter Lane about 11:25 a.m., according to police reports.The toddler was not hurt, police said.

Somebody needs to checkup on the statuses of individuals running these fly by night house daycare centers.
