3 shot at Georgia, Missouri avenues NW

By Terri Rupar

UPDATED 2:30 a.m. Saturday

Three people were reported wounded late Friday in an outburst of gunfire near Missouri and Georgia avenues, in the section of upper Northwest that is east of Rock Creek Park. Investigators said early Saturday that the shooting apparently followed a go-go concert on Georgia Avenue at which fights broke out.

As the victims approached a group of people near Peabody Street, two of them, both young women, were shot in the legs. They walked to a fire station near Missouri Avenue to get help. The most seriously wounded was a young man who was shot in the head. He was believed to be in extremely critical condition at a hospital. All three victims were described as teenagers.

A fourth young man, who was apparently with the others, was initially also believed to be a gunshot victim. However, police said later that he was injured when he punched a plate-glass window.

Less than a block from the 4th District police station. Reminds me of the Ibex club.

The Ibex has long since been replaced by a posh restaurant below posh condos. The club likely at the source of this is the Turntable, which has regular killings. It would be shut down if we were in a nicer part of town, but I think the owners are connected to CM Bowser somehow. Note its one block south of Fenty's campaign HQ and two blocks south of MPD 4D HQ.

Actually if the shooting occurred at Peabody, that is directly between Fenty HQ and MPD 4D HQ. How fitting.
