3 shot at Georgia, Missouri avenues NW
UPDATED 2:30 a.m. Saturday
Three people were reported wounded late Friday in an outburst of gunfire near Missouri and Georgia avenues, in the section of upper Northwest that is east of Rock Creek Park. Investigators said early Saturday that the shooting apparently followed a go-go concert on Georgia Avenue at which fights broke out.
As the victims approached a group of people near Peabody Street, two of them, both young women, were shot in the legs. They walked to a fire station near Missouri Avenue to get help. The most seriously wounded was a young man who was shot in the head. He was believed to be in extremely critical condition at a hospital. All three victims were described as teenagers.
A fourth young man, who was apparently with the others, was initially also believed to be a gunshot victim. However, police said later that he was injured when he punched a plate-glass window.
Four people were reported shot late Friday near a principal intersection in Northwest Washington, authorities said.
The shootings were reported about 11:30 p.m. near Georgia and Missouri avenues NW.
At least one of the victims appeared to be in critical condition.
