D.C. man gets 8 years on gun charges

By Phillip Lucas

A Washington man who stormed into a neighbor’s room last June and shot at a man was sentenced to 8 years in prison on June 24. He was found guilty on April 8 of assault with a dangerous weapon and other gun charges.

Biruk Woldetsadik, who lived in the 100 block of Florida Avenue NW, shouted “I’ll kill you” to the man lying in his bed at 7:30 a.m. on June 13, 2009. He began firing shots at the man’s head and missed him by a few inches, according to a Monday news release from the U.S. Department of Justice.

After firing on the man and missing, Woldetsadik walked back to his house, where investigators found 2,600 grams of marijuana, cocaine, scales, a gun case and ammunition.

Woldetsadik was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, possession of a firearm, carrying a pistol without a license and owning an unregistered firearm and ammunition.

8 years seems kind of light for what he did and had at the house, but I guess the FEDS just wanted a conviction to say they put him in jail.
