Blaze rips through Fairfax house
A 2-alarm fire caused extensive damage Sunday night to a house in the Merrifield area of Fairfax County, authorities said.
The fire department received was called to the house in the 8600 block of Cherry Drive about 8 p.m. The blaze was quelled about 40 minutes later. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
The street is west of the Capital Beltway and north of Route 50.
