Pedestrian killed in P.G. hit-and-run
A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle and killed early Thursday on Branch Avenue in Prince George's County, police said.
The vehicle did not stop. The man, whose name was not released, died right after the 2 a.m. collision.
Cpl. Larry Johnson, a police spokesman, said a witness saw the man dressed in dark clothing and walking down the middle of Branch Avenue south of St. Barnabas Road moments before the vehicle apparently struck.
Police closed a section of Branch Avenue until just before 7 a.m. so they could gather debris, which they hoped would help them determine what type of vehicle had struck the pedestrian.
Anyone with information about the collision is asked to call the Prince George's County police at 301-333-4000 or the anonymous Crimesolvers line at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477).
