Child found unharmed in vehicle theft
A child was a passenger in a mini-van that was stolen Wednesday evening outside of Children's Hospital in Northwest Washington, D.C. police said.
The child, whose age was not known, was found unharmed a short while after the car was stolen about 7:15 p.m., said Officer Hugh Carew, a spokesman. Police recovered the child in the 100 block of Franklin Street NE, less than a mile from the hospital.
About 25 minutes after the vehicle was stolen, police stopped a mini-van in the Mount Ranier area of Prince George's County and apprehended one male, authorities said.
Prince George's County police were notified of the stolen mini-van, and they assisted D.C. police officers in stopping the vehicle in the 3000 block of Queens Chapel Road, said Cpl. Evan Baxter, a county police spokesman.
Further details were not immediately available.
