D.C. man gets 50 years in toddler death

By Associated Press

A D.C. man has been sentenced to 50 years in prison in the death of a 21-month-old.

Jonathan Austin was sentenced Friday in Superior Court. A jury convicted him of felony murder with aggravating circumstances and first-degree child cruelty in the death of Ronjai Butler, his girlfriend’s son.

Prosecutors said Austin had been baby-sitting the boy and his sister in 2008 when the boy’s mom arrived and found him semiconscious. Austin claimed nothing had happened, but the boy later died and the death ruled a homicide.

An autopsy determined he had a skull fracture and lacerated internal organs. At the time of Ronjai’s death, Austin was on parole for another offense against a child and had been ordered not to have contact with children.

So I guess he didn't run this bit of info by the mother when they started dating and when he said that he would babysit.

It's sad the mother of this baby will have to live with this for the rest of her days, reliving "what if" scenerios.

He's a coward and predator of the worst kind...may he know the pain that he caused this child and die in prison horribly.

If you know that you have a low tolerance for noise, children running around acting like children do; then you should not be around them. Children make noise, babies cry for whatever reason; stay away from them. They haven't done anything to you. Why hurt them, they're children. Women(mothers), get a background check on the men you bring around your children; YOU OWE them that much for their safety. People are crazy.

An eye for an eye. This guy should have been hung, in a fair world.

They - inmates and hacks alike - hate baby-killers in prison.

That piece of gargbage will have a hard way to go before someone eventually sticks a shank in him.
