Dead person found on Metro train

By Erica Johnston

A person who had died was found Monday on board a Metro train, a Metro spokeswoman said.

Metro said an “unconscious patron” was found on a train at the platform of the Shady Grove station on the Red Line. The discovery was made about 3 p.m.

After the death was confirmed by the Montgomery County fire department, the train was moved into the rail yard at Shady Grove.

Authorities went to the scene, and a preliminary report indicated that the death was not suspicious, said Metro spokeswoman Angela Gates.

I've taken the Metro out to Shady Grove station. It is indeed a long trip.

No one tried to "wake" the guy when they got off at the end of the line? Helpful folks.

it's sad, but i wouldn't be surprized if he had gotten on in the morning rush hour and had already made a couple trips back and forth from glenmont to shady grove before being discovered.

There's no mention in the article whether the poor chap was male or female. It only states that a person (otherwise identified as an unconcious patron)was found dead.

It's so sad indeed! The article never did mention whether the patron was male or female. It referred to the person as being an "unconcious patron". What a way to go!

After this latest incident, the name of the Red Line should be officially changed to the DEAD Line.
