Firefighters battle Potomac house fire
More than 70 firefighters were needed to extinguish a blaze in a large, single-family home in Potomac late Thursday, the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Department said.
No one was injured in the fire, which officials said was reported just after 11 p.m. and brought under control within an hour. A fire department spokesman said the occupants of the home, in the 10000 block of Chartwell Manor Court in Avenel, left the building before firefighters arrived.
The blaze appears to have started in the home’s garage and spread to the first and second floors, the spokesman said.
