Guilty plea for transporting girl for sex
A Texas man who worked for a Maryland trucking company has pleaded guilty to transporting an 11-year-old girl from Maryland for sex.
Prosecutors say 41-year-old Elmer Zelaya-Robles took the girl from Prince George's County in February to other states including Virginia and Tennessee.
Prosecutors say Zelaya-Robles had sex multiple times with the girl and that he planned to reside with her in Dallas.
The girl called her mother and said she was with Zelaya-Robles, who was friends with her family. The girls' parents called police and prosecutors say a Tennessee highway trooper stopped Zelaya-Robles after an Amber Alert was issued.
Zelaya-Robles is scheduled to be sentenced in December. He faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years and could be sentenced to life imprisonment.
