Guilty plea in Va. hostage case
A Tennessee man could face life in prison after pleading guilty to holding three people hostage at a post office in Virginia last year.
Warren Aubra Taylor of Bristol, Tenn., pleaded guilty Friday in federal court in Virginia to federal kidnapping and firearms charges. The 53-year-old Taylor admitted holding a U.S. Postal Service supervisor and two customers hostage for nine hours at the Wytheville post office on Dec. 23, 2009.
U.S. Attorney Timothy J. Heaphy says the incident was a “misguided attempt” by Taylor to register his displeasure with the federal government.
A sentencing date hasn't been set.
