Immigration status check in Va. arrests

By Washington Post editors

A new system that lets local law enforcement check fingerprints of people who are arrested against immigration records maintained by the Department of Homeland Security is now in use in every county in Virginia, according to a joint release by the Attorney General's office and the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Previously, authorities could check fingerprints against the FBI's criminal history database. But the new "Secure Communities" program lets them check DHS records and automatically alerts ICE to those with immigration violations. According to a release, ICE will prioritize enforcement for those who are convicted of major drug offenses, murder, rape and kidnapping.

Counting Virginia's participation, the program is now available in 336 jurisdictions in 22 states and will be available nationally by 2013.

"This information sharing enables criminal aliens to be identified at the time they are booked in a jail anywhere in Virginia, and those convicted of serious crimes can be prioritized for deportation after serving their sentences," Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli (R) said in a statement.

The ACLU, a pro-illegal immigrant, anti-sovereignty law organization that taxpayers are supporting, is incessantly intimidating true Americans and permanent residents? YES! You pay through the nose, to subsidize this Communist-inspired entity. We can beat these creeps, when they threatened to sue small towns and cities, that have been overwhelmed by the illegal alien plight? If hundreds of communities started to fight back--such as Fremont, Nebraska--by voting out Liberals hiding behind Democrats, who are tearing the fabric of this law abiding country apart. United cities, towns who want to stop this propagating invasion, should collectively vote against illegal aliens stealing jobs, the harboring foreign nationals, renting property and accessing welfare entitlements. The ACLU and other radical groups do not have the absolute legal representation in numbers or cash, to sue massive collectives of municipalities that have had enough of encroachment of illegal people who scorn our laws.

Every citizen-resident must realize this also influences--YOU--and your children's future, wages, culture, language and the deterioration of our most sacred document--the US Constitution. by Leftist extremists.

The federal government has failed to build the border fence correctly? Only one fence has been partly completed, the second fence built as a prison chain-link fence adorned with nasty razor wire. Its' incredulous that the 2006 Secure fence act was under funded could not work, because of the interdiction by Sen. Harry Reid of Nevada, Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison, R-TX, and co-sponsored by Sen. John Cornyn, (R-TX) Investigate the--REAL FENCE--as in San Diego, California that has a 99.8 success rate, but our US Government never passes on this information. Learn about the Liberal Democrats forcible push in cramming--AMNESTY--down your throat. Hundreds and billions of dollars are secretly used to pay for underwriting "Anchor Babies" and welfare, that come out of your payroll check. NumbersUSA gives all the financial answers and more. Get rid ALL--the Pro-Amnesty political incumbents in November.

All illegal aliens that are caught should be deported, waiting until they commit a major violent crime is not reasonable.

Now comes the Arz. bill that will go into effect in Va. as well as 32 other states and their is not a thing the Federal Govt. can do about it except enforce the law.

I totally agree with you "infinity555"! The Center for Immigration Study is another good source for just the facts of "immigration". Not just the illegal immigration. http://cis.org/ I am astounded by the attacks on American Citizens for simply requesting our Federal Government to uphold the laws and the Federal Government just thumbing their noses at us for it.

Arizona Gov.J.Brewer gave big support to the rebirth of the Neo-Nazi AmericanPatriot
Movement in Phoenix, when she signed into Law a way for racist Americans to racially profile, harass, kill and arrest anyone who remotely appears to be Latino in characteristics. Latino native Americans did not cross the border. The border cross our ancestors with an illegal boat known as the May Flower in 1620.There is no such thing as an illegal Latino in America. Yes
Paleface white people are not native to America.Who will draw a sharp racial line between today's national racial identity and acceptable oppression in the face of ethnic racial bashing as an American pastime? Has America before the new home for Hilter's Neo Nazi movement on the the racial backs of Latino Americans? Why has Obama thrown Latino Americans under the racial bus to keep white people happy. America is truly the home of the "ugly Americans".The world known it for sure.STOP THE HATE ON THE LATINO AMERICAN COMMUNITIES.

Dear Latina, Good Heavens! The racism that you spew is appalling to me. I am a Proud American born of Irish immigrants myself. Are you an American? Are you not proud of the Melting pot that we have provided for all of the races that have been welcomed and accepted, as long as they follow our laws and regulations? Your speech is equal to Hitler hate and your ugly racist talk is what America is against. This is not a Latino issue, but I think you know that.

Latina be a part of the solution not a main cause of the problem. If you really want to support your fellow Hispanic immigrant then you would be helping him or her do it the right way, the legal way. Sneaking them across the border, or supporting those who do is criminal. If you come to this land abide by the laws and try to learn the customs. Maybe i should go around stepping on or burning the American flag or raising the Mexican flag as a sign of disrespect, oh that is such a wonderful thing to do.

Almost every country OTHER than the U.S. enforces their immigration laws.

Part of being a sovereign country is having an immigration policy, and enforcing it.

Either change the policy, or enforce the one we have. Looking the other way and whistling isn't much of an enforcement strategy.

Folks, this isn't racism, nor is it rocket science. Overpopulation, congestion, urban sprawl, diminishing resources, crumbling infrastructure, vanishing farm land and green space, lack of affordable housing, overcrowded schools and hospitals, water and energy shortages, the oppressive competition for jobs, home, education, etc,,, crime, pollution, depressed wages, increased tax burdens, the balkanization or our communities, the marginalization of American workers, taxpayers and voters, indeed, the overall decline in quality of life, are all the result of unconstrained, unjustified, unsustainable immigration! Too many people competing for the same limited resources is NOT sane, sustainable social, economic or environmental policy.

Virtually every industrialized nation, China, Mexico, Latin America, Great Britain, the European Union, most of Asia, the Middle East, have all adopted zero tolerance policies for illegal aliens as well as strict enforcement and deportation practices. Further, these same nations have developed policies aimed at limiting legal immigration to only that which io prudent, demonstrably necessary, readily assimilated, and above all other concerns, limited to only that which is in the best interests of their native population. It's dangerously misguided to suggest that the United States not do likewise!
