Man, 29, killed in Silver Spring
A 29-year-old man was shot to death early Monday in the White Oak section of Silver Spring, and Montgomery County police said they are investigating the death as a homicide.
Police said they were called to the 11100 block of Columbia Pike in White Oak about 12:37 a.m. for a report of a person who was shot. The man had been struck at least once in the body, police said.
Investigators say the man was in the parking lot of a residential building when he was approached by two other males. They exchanged words, and then one of the two shot the 29-year-old, police said. The alleged gunman and his acquaintance fled on foot, police said.
The name of the dead man was withheld pending notification of his family. Police asked anyone with information about the shooting to call the major crimes division at 240-773-5070 or the county's anonymous tips line, 1-866-411-8477 (TIPS).
