By Erica Johnston

A man died in a multi-car crash Tuesday night on Route 5 in the Brandywine area, Maryland State police said.

According to preliminary police reports, state troopers were called to the intersection of Route 5 at Brandywine Road about 9 p.m. for a three-car crash, officials said. One driver was ejected from his vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

No other injuries were reported and no other details about the crash were immediately available. Authorities shut down Route 5 for at least two hours as they investigated.
