Man found dead outside Wheaton home
Montgomery County police are investigating the death of a man found with a gunshot wound to the upper body outside a home across from Wheaton High School early Wednesday.
About an hour after the 27-year-old victim was found on Randolph Road at about 1 a.m., another man, also 27, walked into the local police station and claimed responsibility for the killing, police said.
He was taken into custody and transported to police headquarters for questioning.
Police said the victim and another man, age 22, had arrived at the residence sometime before the shooting. A confrontation between the men in the front yard then turned deadly, police said.
Police are investigating the shooting as a homicide.

The fact that this shooting ocurred across the street from my sister's high school is very alarming. My family and I live near that area, and when I saw News Channel 8 at the scene this morning as I drove to work, I knew something had happened there. Thankfully, the shooter is now in police custody and not on the loose, but it's still not comforting since this is the 11th homicide this year in Mont County.
