Man who shot self in rape try is sentenced

A Southeast Washington man who accidentally shot himself during a rape attempt has been sentenced to 12 years in prison, U.S. Attorney Ronald C. Machen Jr. said Monday in a statement.
Prosecutors said Jonathan Newman, 23, snuck up behind a woman who was talking on a mobile phone outside her Shaw neighborhood apartment building on a late night in June, 2009. He pointed a revolver to her temple and forced her inside, authorities said.
As Newton struggled to restrain the woman, he shot himself in the arm and fled, prosecutors said.
Newton was convicted on rape, robbery and gun charges.

He should've shot his self in head and not have the taxpayers have to pay for his stay.
