Part of I-270 shut down due to ice
Part of Interstate 270 in Montgomery County was shut down late Monday night after water from fighting a brush fire froze on the highway, the state police said.
Police said the fire broke out adjacent to the northbound lanes of the interstate near Old Georgetown Road.
After the fire was extinguished, the extreme right-hand lane and right-hand shoulder remained shut about 11:30 p.m. while authorities waited for sand trucks to arrive.
