Pentagon officers honored
Nearly four months after preventing an armed man from shooting his way into the Pentagon, the officers who dodged bullets and thwarted the assailant were honored Friday.
Their wounds mostly healed and their jobs resumed, the four men stood on stage -- stern-faced, chests puffed out -- to receive Medals for Valor from the Office of the Secretary of Defense.
John Patrick Bedell tried to force his way into the Pentagon's Metro entrance on March 4 with two 9mm semiautomatic handguns. He wounded two officers before he was killed.
