Man fatally shot in Pr. George's
A man sitting inside a car in the parking lot of a busy Prince George’s County shopping center was shot and killed Monday by a lone gunman who apparently walked up to the vehicle and opened fire, police said.
The incident occurred just after 5 p.m. in the parking lot of the Penn Station Shopping Center in the 5700 block of Silver Hill Road in the District Heights area, said Cpl. Larry Johnson, a Prince George’s County police spokesman.
Johnson said police do not know why, but a lone gunman approached a car and fired several shots at the car, fatally wounding the man inside.
Police sources said the man was shot in the head.
The homicide was Prince George’s 15th of the year. Johnson said investigators were hoping witnesses would come forward and call Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS.
“The number one thing right now that we want to get out there is it’s a busy shopping center, it’s normal business hours right now, anybody that saw anything just give us a call,” he said.

Back when we were having one-a-day, he PGPD spokesman assured us that the killings were targeted and the general public needn't fear random acts.
Since any of us could be in a car in a shopping center, they really should tell us whether this victim was a known drug-trade participant or just a random guy who could have been anyone.
