Police say body found in Morningside

Prince George's County police detectives have launched an investigation into the discovery Thursday of skeletal remains in a wooded area in Morningside, the Crime Scene blog reports.

Cpl. Henry Tippett, a Prince George's County police spokesman, said the remains were discovered by a motorist who ran out of gas on the inner loop of the Beltway near Suitland Road.

Prince George's County police detectives say a decomposed body was found Thursday afternoon in a wooded area near Morningside.

The body was discovered just after noon in an area near the Capital Beltway and Suitland Road, said Cpl. Larry Johnson, a Prince George's police department spokesman. He said the body was "decomposed," and detectives are treating the case as a death investigation.
