Sex charges dropped vs. Dunbar students

By Clarence Williams

District prosecutors have dropped sexual assault charges against six Dunbar Senior High School students, who had been accused of attacking a 15-year-old student at the D.C. school last week. But they declined to say what prompted the decision.

The city’s Office of the Attorney General and D.C. police both decided to drop charges against the youths on Tuesday. The six were arrested Nov. 23 and charged with raping another student on a lower level of the Northwest Washington school, said Kate Stanton, a spokeswoman for mayor Adrian M. Fenty.

The alleged victim told authorities that she was attacked on Nov. 22 at the school in the 1300 block of New Jersey Avenue. According to a police report, the teen said one youth grabbed her from behind and placed his hand over her mouth, to keep her from screaming, while the other five youths raped her.

Six young men, all younger than 18, were arrested the next day and charged with first-degree sexual abuse.

Stanton said the attorney general’s office would not release the reasons for dropping the charges. Gwendolyn Crump, a spokeswoman for D.C. police, also declined to comment.

Why? A spurious allegation? Doubtful, or police and prosecutors would say so. More likely, the victim recently re-discovered that "snitches get stitches" at Dunbar and many of DC's high schools.

My daughter? I'd rather she plain drop out of school than attend DCPS hellholes like Dunbar.

'Course, many do.

Sounds like some of the perps 'friends' got to the girl and her family... a sad situation. I have no doubts that the perps will repeat their crimes...

Or maybe the girl was a low self-esteem having promiscuous child seeking attention and consented to sex. Yes, it happens...

Crazy thing is now the youngmen fingerprints and mug shots are in the system and the charges now get dropped. She probably was going to let one of the men have sex with her, but he probably told his friends and they came and they told her they would tell if they also were not allowed to have sex with her too. Then she doesn't want to be known as a "hoe" around the school and screams rape. They should lock her a** up for lying.

Everyone assumes this girl is black, right? If she is white watch the tone of these comments change. If the young men are white watch the tone of these comments change. If you live in Washington, D.C. get used to what you don't like, cause it won't change in your lifetime.

She should face criminal charges. As I stated in the initial article let the facts come to light. What Dunbar needs is a mental health system integrated into the school for everyone!
