Store manager shot, killed in Brookland

By Clarence Williams and Martin Weil

The manager of a market in the Brookland section of Northeast Washington was shot and killed Saturday night during a robbery, D.C. police said.

They said two gunmen entered the Newton Market in the 3600 block of 12th Street NE about 6:30 p.m. and tried to hold up the business.

During the incident, one or more shots were fired by one of the would-be robbers, the police said. The store manager was hit in the chest and fatally wounded, police said.

Blogger Alan Henney said both robbers were reportedly armed with silver-colored handguns.

Police asked that anyone with information call them immediately at (202) 727-9099.

Typically bogus reporting by the WaPo. There is no way that the robbers could have been "armed with silver-colored handguns." We all know that carrying handguns in DC is illegal, right?

Too bad that the store manager wasn't armed like the gas station manager in Woodbridge, VA, was this week.

In all sincerity, my condolences to the family and friends of the store manager. Your loss was so needless.

Re:hisroc
What makes you so dead sure that the late store Manager wasn't armed?

This is where we are today, the manager dies, for what, these stores just making it just like all of us, the game is out of control, typically you go in get your money, and roll out, but like mentioned, most DC merchants can't protect themselves, this is the crime, we live in a different world, these stores serve the community, and no one should die, trying to serve the community, these cowards live behind their own law, get in, fire off, and don't look back, so too many people are left injured or dead, and guess what the killers get taken care of by the victims family members, too much to ask for, work in our community, get murdered, and by the way, your family can help keep the coward that did it alive, and in most cases living better than most low income americans, wake up, stop killing people, you got the gun, you got the money, there's no need for someone to die, you may have a hard life, but life is GODS work, and you may not fear the community, but GOD carries no weapon, and killing what GOD created, be ready for your true punishment.

Law Enforment Please Hurry and catch them, before they Kill/Hurt some one else, and WHEN YOU DO, and I pry that you will, tell the Judge's to GIVE straight time, no good time, they Took a life, how many more that they could have done and we no nothing about it,"A Eye For A Eye",the court/judge's will slap them on the waist and they will be out again and do it again, again and again, Are their Guide line's? if it is the guide line's that free theive's, murder's that should be changed so that the court's can do a better job.

Thanks for the great tip, WaPo.
"Silver colored handguns".........LOL!!!!
I will try to avoid those w/ "Silver colored handguns."

Who writes for WaPo? 10 year olds?

I see the Washington Post's reporting of "silver colored handguns" to be relevant. Without a clear description of the robbers/murderers, this just might be the one clue that causes a person to give the police a lead. Tanya/Marcia/Joan just might recall that Joe/William/Mark had a "silver colored handgun." I can tell you that many men who get caught, are turned in by the women (mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, girlfriend) in their lives.

Since the WaPo didn't describe the individuals, that is code for young African-Americans. We don't want to offend any African-Americans by describing the killers, even if it increases odds of catching them. Because we can tolerate a murder here or there but we can't tolerate offending African-Americans by describing the murderers.

Now fast forward to Pittsburgh. This is what happens when a citizen is allowed to arm and defend himself against thugs:

Maybe a visit to Houston last Thursday might be instructional for Dah Mayor and his cronies regarding gun control.

Let me make it clear - being Honduran is not relative - but being a criminal is. These Criminal Entrepreneurs tried to use a bad - make that fatal - business model.

What a vicious and violent culture.

One can probably count on one hand the number of U.S. senators and House representatives who'd dare to publicly castigate the robber-shooters for exercising their NRA/Supreme Court-granted right to bear those silver beauties.

slipuvalid - I know you are dense, so I will type slowly. How does the NRA even fit into this, you leftist moron? The NRA would back the right of the store manager to defend himself, not the criminal.

Hopefully someone will catch them before the cops do and hang them by their necks from the nearest telephone pole.

Let's face it, this is felony murder...which is a capital offense...a murder committed during a crime...In Va. where I live, the death penalty can be invoked...but in DC they voted down the death penalty a few years ago...

Still can't understand why....so now live with the fact that the killers may get only 20 years if caught....

1. Of what use is "silver colored guns" in identifying someone?

2. Because a blogger said so?

3. You could identify the silver guns but nothing else about the robbers? Since the manager was killed, who else would have been in a position to describe the guns, or anything else?

Is ANYONE editing this newspaper anymore?
