Teen assaults St. Mary's officers
The St. Mary's County sheriff's office says a teenager has been arrested for assaulting two officers.
Authorities say Cpl. Margaret Smolarsky went to the county government building to serve a probation violation warrant to 19-year-old Daniel K. Douglas of Mechanicsville on Wednesday.
Smolarsky found Douglas in the office of parole and probation and when she tried to arrest him, authorities say he resisted and assaulted her before fleeing.
The sheriff's office says Smolarsky and Deputy Michael Campbell followed Douglas to the parking lot where he assaulted Campbell during a brief struggle. Douglas was arrested and charged with two counts of assault on a police officer and resisting arrest.
