Teen dies following Rockville hit-and-run
A 16-year-old scooter passenger, struck by a hit-and-run driver seven days ago in Rockville, died late last night at a hospital, officials said Monday. Police anticipate that charges will be filed against the driver whose Mercedes Benz struck the scooter, a Montgomery County police spokeswoman said.
Police identified the dead teenager as Noel Hernandez Mendoza, of the 12800 block of Evanston Street, in Rockville. The scooter driver, Mario Claros Hernandez, 19, of the 5000 block of Aspen Hill Road, remains in serious condition at a local trauma center, police said.

One of the victims in a hit-and-run in Rockville last week has died of his injuries, WTOP reports.
Noel Hernandez Mendoza, 16, died just late Sunday. He was hit by a car while riding on the back of a motor scooter driven by 19-year-old Mario Claros Hernandez. Hernandez remains in serious condition.
The two had been riding in the 12700 block of Veirs Mill Road early in the morning on Oct. 18, when they were struck by a car driven by Hector Andres Mazo Paya.
Paya, 24, initially fled the scene but turned himself in to authorities later that morning.
Charges against Paya are pending.
