Teens charged in MoCo robberies

By Washington Post editors

Montgomery County police have charged three teens in connection with a pair of robberies, one of which was caught on tape, WUSA 9 reports.

An investigation is underway to identify two other people seen on the security camera footage.

On May 5, about 10 p.m., a group of teens are seen surrounding a 32-year-old man in the Aspen Hill apartments. They then begin to punch the man and stomp on him.

Police say the victim suffered broken ribs and severe bruising, and is now a reluctant witness.

Three people were arrested after a second attack at Georgia and Connecticut avenues in Aspen Hill. They are:

-- Kirkland Hall Jr., 18, of Rockville: two counts of robbery and first-degree assault.

-- Tjay Joseph, 16, of Silver Spring: two counts of robbery and first-degree assault.

-- Darrell Boyd-Brothers, 17, of Silver Spring: one count of robbery and first-degree assault.

All are charged as adults.

I know good punishment for these fine upstanding youths of MoCo.... a lot of jail time.. I now whats going to happen since we are in MoCo.... rehabilitation and kindness to help nuture them to be upstanding adults. I actually live around that neighborhood.... more on the Bauer/Arctic ave side..... it is truly sad. I wish the victim had a chance to fight back and inflict some serious harm

Trust me if these punks would've tried that with me I think MoCo would've given me a key to the city after I killed at least two of them. I sometimes can't wait for these punks to try something when I see them at the bus stops or malls just standing around plotting on a victim. I just hope and pray if I'm attacked that none of these punks get off a nice shot that knocks me out, but if they don't, may GOD have mercy on them.

My little brother has attacked people like this in atleast four cases.. Atleast the ones he got caught for... DC sends these kids to a day camp called New Beginnings, I'm so happy these young men are being charged as adults... DC needs to do the same thing, really, they want to attack people for no reason put greed or the feed their drug and drinking habits.. Then let them be sentence as they should, AS ADULTS....
Please DC Take note to this...

MOCO you want to cut down on these kind of attacks? You started right by charging them as adults. Now finish the job by convicting them and sentencing them to long prision time not some juvernile rehibilitation camp. And make sure their sentencing is broadcast to all TV stations and newspapers.
Maybe, just maybe the District will take a hint.

I hope they get sentenced to more than 18 months, so they can go to a hard prison like Jessup, Cumberland or even Hagerstown, so they can get pressed and beat like they did this guy. The bad thing about this video is it took 5 punks to attack 1 man and only took a stupid cell phone that probably was prepaid.

It appears the man that was beaten was trying to buy drugs. Not saying he deserved it but that is a risk you take when you deal with low lifes.
