Wind-driven fire destroys Md. home
Prince George's County fire officials say a home in College Park was destroyed Saturday morning by flames fanned by heavy winds.
Firefighters were called to the 8400 block of Potomac Ave. around 6:00 a.m. and needed about an hour to extinguish the blaze.
Three University of Maryland students lived in the two-story house. They were not injured. Several animals, including an exotic bird and some dogs, were removed by firefighters.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Firefighters say a neighbor's home was also damaged by flames fueled by natural gas leaking from an underground line.
