Cyclist shot in NE D.C. park

By Washington Post editors

A young man was hospitalized in critical condition after he was shot in the head while riding a bike though Marvin Gaye Park in Northeast Washington, NBC 4 reports.

The shooting happened just after 1 p.m. Tuesday, close to the park entrance at Fitch Place and Division Avenue.

Police from around the city, including Chief Cathy Lanier, were on the scene. "We're very actively investigating and trying to recover any evidence," Lanier said.

So far, police have neither a motive nor a suspect.

SO lets have the demographics. Was it a hate crime? Sounds totally random to me!
Give some details so we know what happened and why.

Demographics? Would you feel so much more satisfied and righteous if he were black? Come on, just say so.

May the victim recover and live a full life. May the shooter be found and dealt with justly.

i seen the entrance to this park, i ride along Nannie Hellen Burroughs and see the bike trail leading to Marvin Gaye park. I'm black and I cycle but as much as i want to, I dare not every try to ride that route. Too much unchecked violence in there. Too many black leaders make 'white man world 'excuses for our youth, so the shootings and robberies will continue and when we catch the culprits, its not their fault, blame it on the world.

Would the cyclist have been attacked if he'd been armed?

Bullets will do the same damage to an individual regardless of their race. If any thing, this illustrates another fool with a hand gun.
