1,000s without power Wednesday morning
Update, 9:15 a.m.: Montgomery College's Takoma Park/Silver Spring campus is closed until 12 p.m. because of a power outage.
Original post, 5:10 a.m.: Thousands of Washington area homes were without power this morning after a cluster of storms ripped through the region Tuesday night.
Electric companies were reporting about 2,600 outages in Montgomery County, about 450 in the District, about 350 in Prince George’s County, and about 380 in northern Virginia.
A flood warning was in effect overnight as showers continued off and on, and traffic agencies were warning drivers be on the lookout for standing water on the roadways during the Wednesday morning commute.
The risk of showers was expected to continue through the morning, the Capital Weather Gang said.
Stay with Dr. Gridlock for updates on the morning commute.
