2 killed, 2 injured driving to D.C. graduation
The Virginia State Police say two members of a North Carolina family have died from injuries suffered in a single-vehicle accident on Interstate 95 in Hanover County.
Police say 75-year-old Joe L. Thomas and 45-year-old Garry W. Estes died at Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center in Richmond after the Thursday morning accident.
Police say the family was traveling in a vehicle driven by 51-year-old Teresa E. Bridges. The car ran off the highway and struck a tree.
Police say Bridges and her husband, 52-year-old Spencer D. Bridges, were taken to VCU Medical Center as well. Spencer Bridge's injuries are considered life-threatening. Teresa Bridge's are not.
Police say the family members were traveling from Durham, N.C., to a relative's college graduation in Washington.
