2 men run afoul of Obama motorcade

By Erica Johnston

Secret Service officers have subdued two men who refused to get out of the street as President Barack Obama's motorcade was returning to the White House.

Secret Service spokesman Ed Donovan says Obama was returning Thursday night from a school event for one of his daughters when the men refused to move out of the way of the presidential motorcade. A uniformed Secret Service officer was seen lying on top of one man and another officer wrestled with the second man.

Donovan says the men, who were using profanity, were charged with assaulting a police officer and failure to obey a lawful order. He didn't have their names.

Donovan says the incident appeared to be a random event and not an organized attempt to block the president's motorcade.

Must be two unhinged Palin supporters.

Idiots.

They just wanted the SS to earn their pay, and they probably wanted to wash the presidential limo's windshield, sheesh! So misconstrued.

Must be the type of people who walk across the street at a leisurely pace, stopping occasionally, and looking at you with the air of "it's my road now, and you'll just have to wait!" People without much going for them in life take the opportunity to relish a sense of power and control whenever they can get it.

Not sure what using profanity has to do with anything. The police aren't allowed to arrest you for that.

Funny, I would have used this phrase to describe the behavior of all the security "professionals" I've had the pleasure to interact with in the never ending series of movements that add charm to Washington commutes.

I saw the SS questioning one of the men on the sidewalk....the perp was saying we wanted to let the president know something....
he was obviously mentally impaired..

Copious amounts of alcohol on a hot summer day was involved, I'm sure, too.

Anyone know where this was? Violent feral fools blocking traffic is pretty normal in DC. Wish I had an armed escort...

Is this what caused the traffic jams just before 7 last night around Farragut Park?

couple of palin loving moronatards. hope they get ten years in prison each, then they can tell all the other cons how they "showed" Obama, while they're laying on their stomachs all day with bubba on top of them. Persoanally I think if they refused to move as the article states they should have been considered a threat to the president and run over - a few times. then scrape them up, toss 'em in the nearest dumpster and move on.

In this day and age, with terrorist with bombs strapped to themselves are a fact of life, these two are lucky they weren't shot.

It was Jake Tapper and Major Garrett and they just had follow-up questions for Obama from the last press conference.

Perhaps they were environmentalists who simply wanted to know why a President who is so eager to preach on the ethics of renewable energy, who is so quick to criticize evil oil companies, and who can so nonchalantly joyride around the city in a motorcade of gas guzzling SUVs?

A man who uses more energy than any single human on the planet. Perhaps, this is why they were there.

CubsFan,

do you expect the president (obama or any sitting president) to go to the garage and pullout the Prius?

Cubsfan:
Is there anything about him you wouldn't find fault with? That comment was flat-out ridiculous.

Wrong president, rightie. It was Bush who had protesters detained investigated for slipping past the screeners.

Now get back to the radio. Rush is about to tell you how to treat your wife and kids.

Considering they were endangering the President, they were very lucky they weren't shot immediately. Throw the book at them.
