There needs to be a serious focus on the DC Dept. of Youth Rehabilitation Services. So far there were at least 3 DYRS youth associated with the recent drive by shooting. It will not end here. The mind set with these youth is, " you kill my cat, I kill your dog"

"you kill my cat, I kill your dog. Is this some kind of insinuation that they are animals?

Posted by: Theone9 | April 2, 2010 3:27 AM | Report abuse

Theone9 -- I will not insinuate it, I will say it! They act like a bunch of wild animals, so why keep pretending these people are civilized humans? There is no excuse in this day and age for anybody in this country to live and act in the manner by which these "animals" in these inner city cultures do!

We need to send in the Marines to SE DC to quell the violence.

For every shooting in Souf east there is a stupid reason behind it.... what now? Somebody talk to their girl? Someone steal someones gold tooth? A cheeseburger overcooked? A TV turned up too loud? Airjordans jacked? Inquiring minds what to know. This is funnier than watching hee-haw.. bwhahahahahah..

All Right!!!!

DC > you are on a roll!!!! had a big event on Tues >> 4KIA..

Savages being active... gonna be a warm summer [global warming you know].. should be a substantial body count this year...

It's all a ploy by mayoral candidate Vincent Gray. with the economy all jacked up and so many out of work he's secretly giving $100 for every senseless shooting to increase the anarchy in the district and get the residents primed to oust Fenty. It's all political!!

(this is pure satire folks please don't take me seriously)

Posted by: blackman1 | April 2, 2010 9:25 AM | Report abuse

Wow.. are you serious? So this is what "other" people think of inner city dwellers? Wild Animal.. because it's warm, there will be a high body count, not civilized humans? I can not believe the comments I am reading on here. These inner city dwellers need help, not the marines, not "you" folks pearing down on them. Let us not forget about the ultimate wild animal who sent thousands of HUMANS to their death over some fake weapons of mass destruction. For the Wild Animals that allow poisons and toxics into our food and water supply just because iof a profit. Come on now.. when are "people" going to get over themselves and realize that the violence that is going on right now is a direct result of hundreds of years of inhuman treatment. I don't even feel like going there.. but there are sooo many ignorant "people" out here... and that have a computer and a keyboard. Do yourself a favor and write a letter instead. hopefully you'll forget to put a stamp on it so no one but you will really know how silly you are.

allboyzworld -- your views and outlook towards this problem and the solution are the very same reasons that this problem will never be solved! This culture will continue to decline and be self-destructive no matter what anybody else does to attempt to help it. Hundreds of years of inhuman treatment is the excuse for the violence and ignorance in inner city of DC? Exactly how would someone turn that around? Education grants? Welfare assistance? Job Training? Affirmative Action? Rehabilitation programs? All of those things have been offered and provided with little to no success! You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink! Almost every country in the world that is predominately black, has issues with disorder. As for the comments about Iraq and the Middle East - please educate yourself more. Even if Iraq was found to not have WMDs, Sadam had exterminated thousands of people in Iraq. He had ordered the murders of thousands of people by his army with use of bullets and nerve gases. He further turned his nose up in the air to the U.N., and blatantly ignored their demands. Iraq, if not already, would have definitely become the next safe haven for terrorists against the United States! The only thing I disagree with, is the unnecessary loss of US Soldiers lives. Level that cr@p hole and come home!

allboyzworld,

Please take that liberal, well-intentioned, good-herated, positive affirmation PC crap and choke on it. Comparing Iraq and Afghanistan to the ghettoes that have KILLED the black community is completely offbase.

Our communities are being terrorized and its high time that the National Guard steps in, declare martial law, and root out all of these wretched black folks who stopped caring 2 generations ago. Human or not, they aren't acting like civilized beings. Even other animals have a heirarchy that they adhere to. These common street thugs are sociopaths and if we don't lock them up, pretty soon it will be more of them than it is of those of us who are civil.

YOU ARE THE INGORANT ONE.

Thank you blkmancommonsense. As a black man myself, I have long stopped defending these idiots.

Maybe a white, conversative mayor is what is needed for this city. Just ridiculous.

To WACKManCommonSense & GolfPro2.. I am not defending OR condoning these selfish and ignorat actions. I actually have a sister who has two small children that lives in the area. It could have been them. But do you REALLY think having the national guard come around and make sure everyone is in the house at a certain time is going to do anything? What if Marshall law is spread to where you live? What if it's applied to all black people period? While we are on a roll... why don't they just make us give up our freedom and go live with a nice while family and they can provide our clothing and shelter while we work for them and take care of their kids. That might work right? You are so out of touch, I guess you watched Sarah Pallin's program last night too, right? This problem is so much deeper than 2 generations. Please look into it. Read something other than the Washington Post and look at something other than FOX news. You may learn something. Then to say level a hold country, WOW really smart. Just to let you know we have offered a safe haven to terrorist as well... And to say that most black countries have disorder. I wonder why? Does it have to do w/ the turmoil that European control left? Think about it... or maybe not.. whatever.. HAPPY EASTER!!

"Maybe a white, conversative mayor is what is needed for this city. Just ridiculous."

Yeah neighborhood crews are going to stop shooting each other because a white guy is sitting in the Wilson Building (end sarcasm). National Guard won't solve the root cause. They tried in New Orleans. Still hasn't abated crime.

Ummm the Marines are already in SE DC. They have a barracks on 8th and I Streets. Hint*** get to them BEFORE they get to Happy Hour.

People - we still hung up on trying to identify and pigeon hole the issues. There are many in the urban communities - especially the black communities, mainly because we have reverted to education and common sense not being taught to these kids who are being raisded by kids mostly themselves. As much as we went thru in the 60's and 70's it seems the cool thing these days has gone back to dropping out - identifying intelligent conversation as acting white and being more concerned about fashion than rasing your da*M kids. When did girls dressing like boys and thugs become cool, when young men start looking like girls and displaying their nasty azz underwear become cool. Are there no fathers out there to teach the boys how to fight with their hands anymore, evey idiot has a gun these days and only scared little punks need a gun to give them their swag. This generation may not be completely lost - but we better find a way to reach them - cause they will be the adults of the future , and they have no respect for life or living. Not all - but you know if you are an idiot or not. If you believe everything comes down to gunplay - then this is for you.

Lack of jobs. Why? De-industrialization. Young Black men and women need to be trained in the "computer culture" of today. Teach them computer programming, etc. Set up ITT Tech in Southeast.

Harlem has "Harlem Children's Zone." That's what we need in Wards 7, 8. Train the kids from when they're young. Change the mentality.

Work at it high and low.
Jobs.
Education.
Focus on technology training.

To those who think a better education or more education would help move the area into a better situation, I hate to be the bearer of bad news. My colleagues and I try our hardest to give our students even a BASIC education and they have absolutely no interest.
Someone said it earlier...you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink.

I smash my head against a wall everyday watching my students fight over petty issues. My heart breaks everytime I hear their stories. Biological parents are mostly not in the picture and grandparents are exhausted raising the grandchildren.

Where these kids are growing up there simply are not enough positive role models in their lives EVERYDAY. Children see people getting by without an education so they can do it to. They live what they know.

Can we add some sort of birth control to the water for a while? The cycle will never end.
