Two men were shot Thursday night in Southeast Washington, D.C. police said.
Officers were sent to the 1600 block of 17th Place for the reporting of a shooting and found two victims about 9:40, said Officer Hugh Carew, a spokesman. According to preliminary information, one victim was taken to a hospital with critical wounds and the other with serious wounds, officials said.
Police received reports that four or five people were seen running through an alley from the scene, but it was not clear if they were involved with the shooting, Carew said.
