3 shot in D.C. late Sunday
Three people were shot in the District in separate incidents late Sunday, authorities said. One shooting apparently occurred near the Verizon Center in downtown.
The shootings, each of them far from the others, occurred between 10 and 11 p.m., police said.
They said one person was shot shortly after 10 p.m. at 6th and H Streets NW, which is in the city’s Chinatown area and about one block northeast of the Verizon Center.
A second shooting occurred about 10:30 p.m. in the 600 block of 46th Place SE.
Another person was shot around 10:45 p.m. at a service station in the Petworth area at Georgia Avenue and Shepherd Street NW, according to police and the D.C. fire and emergency medical services department.

The shooting on 46th Place was right in front of my building too. I can't take this no more. When will it stop. My son is just a baby and he was out there.

It's getting warm. The natives are getting restless.

The guns used probably were legally registered with the DC Police, who require $300 in fees to have a gun in your home, a battery of tests, lectures, and require the guns be kept disassembled and under lock and key.
At least DC requires this for the moment until they can slap on some more punitive burdens onto the honest citizens...and/or until SCOTUS slaps them again, has the Chief of Police arrested for contempt and turns the matter over to a court receiver to administer, just as they did with Alabama in 1962 which also tried to skirt the law of the land.

Who wants to stop gentrification? The criminals that live in their public housing projects and off of everyone else's tax money.

It does not matter if I live in the heart of Simple City or the heart of Chinatown it is still wrong and no one deserves to have their life taken like that. What the one that got shot in Chinatown yesterday as well. Yall people need to open yall eyes and see it is everywhere. I do know better but sometimes people have to crawl again before they can walk. Why are people so ignorant. I'm done with all these negative comments. Let's see what yall say if it happens to one of your own.

Tiki, you are right of course and there are good people everywhere. Right now in certain places the good church-going citizens are overwhelmed by the thugs. The community has to retake its streets, one at a time. The community leaders have to lead. It starts with citizens controlling their destiny and their town like it always has been, not faceless bureaucrats. Good luck and God Bless to the poor fellows shot down in the prime of their life.

And the livin' is easy
Bullets are flyin'
And the body count is high
Your daddy's ain't rich
And your mamma for work is lookin'
So hush little baby
