1 killed, 6 hurt in D.C. crash
UPDATE: A woman was killed and six other people, at least four of them children, were injured Monday evening in a fiery car crash in Southeast Washington, authorities said.
The crash occurred about 7 p.m. in the 3600 block of Alabama Avenue SE. The driver of one of the vehicles, described only as a Toyota, was killed. Four children who had been riding in that vehicle were taken to one or more hospitals in serious or critical condition, authorities said. Their ages ranged between 2 and 11 years old.
EARLIER REPORT: Seven people were injured in a fiery multivehicle collision Monday evening in Southeast Washington, authorities said.
At least five of the people were injured seriously in the crash in the 3600 block of Alabama Avenue, near the boundary with Prince George’s County.
Four of the victims were children, and two were said to be 3 years old or younger.
Authorities said they were calling for a helicopter to take at least one of the victims to a hospital.
