Arrest in Capitol Hill assault

By Martin Weil

A suspect was arrested Sunday in connection with an Nov. 28 sidewalk assault in the Capitol Hill area in which a woman's jaw was broken, D.C. police said.

The daytime attack in the 1300 block of Pennsylvania Avenue SE, on the eastern edge of Capitol Hill, was described by police as apparently unprovoked. It prompted widespread discussion in the area.

Neighbors have said the woman was carrying bags in both arms when she was punched.

Police described the suspect as a juvenile and said he was arrested where he lived, but further details were not immediately available.

However, police said they received help from members of the community.

I've heard something about "punch a whitey" day or something like that. Might this be part of this "celebration"? If so, seems it should be a racial hate crime to me.

Then again, since there are absolutely no details on the perp or the victim, one just assumes and this is dangerous. WaPo? how about a little more of the Sgt Friday, "just the facts ma'am." You know, who, what, when, where, why.

And how did they find the "jeuvenile"?

The victim was not white, though she wasn't black either.

Also (per thehillishome.com): Lieutenant Christopher Micciche stated that the juvenile arrested “is well known to 1-D members. He was previously believed to be linked to burglaries and robberies in the PSA 106/107 area.”

Nice.

Please tell me why there should not be concealed carry permits for law abiding citizens? Would this animal have done this if he knew that someone near this woman could have administered swift justice?

Once the criminal proceedings against this unlawful menace are concluded; this woman should bring civil suit against the DC gov't for failure to protect her well being since they will not allow said woman or any other law abiding person to exercise their second amendment rights; there should have been a police officer anticipating this crime and that officer should have foiled the crime before the victim was injured.

The DC gov't has promised its population that they are better at protecting its citizens from being the victim of crime than the citizens themselves; they did this by removing the inalienable right to self preservance enumerated in the second amendment. They failed this woman miserably.

This woman needs to move to a jurisdiction where she has the full rights afforded to an American citizen... so she can protect herself in the future...or there is always the option to carry concealed in DC and risk being classified a criminal herself for the desire to preserve her life and liberty. I think I would ignore an unconstitutional law if forced to live in a jurisdiction that re-classifies its citizens as second class.

Close public housing disaster "Potomac Gardens" - i.e., the Crime Factory on Capitol Hill.

I suppose some of the reason there are laws against concealing and carrying a weapon in DC is precisely so self-righteous proponents of vigilante justice such as yourself aren't compelled to address a simple assault with cold-blooded murder. Want to own and carry a gun in DC, Then join the National Guard, as "enumerated in the second amendment." You fail to recognize that our right to own weapons comes with the responsibility to serve in the national defense. You seem to want both a Government too small to regulate ownership of firearms, but big enough to be found negligent every time they fail to stop one member of society from committing a crime against another. Could you provide an example of a municipality, state, or even country whose lax control on weapons has spurred a reduction in violent crime? Then, expand that example to show how the same government has eliminated all transgressions against its citizenry.

To me, this one falls right there with shooting unarmed people for gutless crimes.
Like attacking innocent people isn't bad enough to attack a woman is even worse. What is he hoping to progress to...ripping off social security checks or medication from old people?
Not surprising the police are familiar with him already.

Views on gun control aside...The story said that the lady was carrying bags with both hands. How would having a gun have prevented her from being assualted. The most she could have done was shot the guy after she broke her jaw. Either way, her jaw would have been broken. Carrying a gun would not have prevented that crime.

It's not "punch a whitey" it's called "slap a cracker," and Obama hasn't finished drafting the memo.

Dear Insert_Name_Here,

What exactly do you hope to accomplish with your Obama reference to this unprovoked assault? Do you really believe (or expect us to believe) that this Harvard grad and former editor of the Harvard Law Review is really drafting "Slap A Cracker" legislation?

Instead of trying to contribute to intelligent discussion, please stay at home and stew in your racial hatred without the rest of us.
