Child injures hand at L'Enfant Plaza Metro

UPDATE:
A 4-year-old girl severely injured her left hand after falling on an escalator at L'Enfant Plaza Metro station Thursday, according to transit officials.

According to spokesman Steven Taubenkibel, the accident happened at the Seventh Street/Maryland Avenue SW exit. Taubenkibel said the escalator would remain closed pending an inspection and review. .

D.C. Fire/EMS spokesman Pete Piringer said the girl was transported to Children's Hospital.

D.C. Fire and EMS is reporting that a child has been taken from the L'Enfant Plaza Metro station to Children's Hospital with an injured hand.
