D.C. DPW suspends trash, recycling

By Washington Post editors

The DC Department of Public Works has suspended trash and recycling collection for Wednesday as police investigate a shooting that left one employee dead and another wounded at a DPW lot at 1241 W. Street NE.

The suspension includes trash, recycling, bulk and dead animal collection. Trash and recycling collection days will continue to slide to the next day because of the Columbus Day holiday and will take place through Saturday.

Those with once a week trash and recycling collections that would have taken place Wednesday -- normally on Tuesday -- are asked to hold their trash and recycling until their regularly scheduled day next week.

Bulk collections scheduled for Wednesday will be rescheduled.
