D.C. to rule on same day registration
Togo West, chairman of the D.C. Board of Elections and Ethics, announced during a special meeting Wednesday morning that a decision will be made today on Mayor Adrian M. Fenty's petition to allow unaffiliated voters same day registration as Democrats under new elections laws.
On Aug. 12, the board adopted emergency regulations to clarify the new laws that went into effect in February. Voters registered as "no party" cannot declare a party at the last minute to vote in the Sept. 14th primary, according to the regulations.
