D.C.'s Jose Andres gets award from Spain
One of D.C.'s celebrity chefs is getting a big award from his native country.
The Associated Press reports that the Spanish cabinet on Friday said it would award restaurateur Jose Andres the Order of Arts and Letters medallion. It’s the first time the prize, created in 2008, has gone to a chef.
Andres, 41, grew up near Barcelona. His restaurants in the District, Maryland and Virginia have served as a launching pad for his growing food empire.
