District resumes trash pickup from alleys

By Washington Post editors

The District Department of Public Works will resume pickup of trash and recycling from alleys beginning Monday. That's right -- normal collection resumes this week.

But DC DPW says not to worry if you have already placed your trash and recycling curbside. They say they'll pick up from there, too.

The press release that the link goes to says that DC will resume alley pickup next week, but that they are resuming recycling pick up this week. It indicates that both regular trash and recycling will be picked up CURBSIDE. Is there different information out there? Please clarify as I have two weeks' worth of trash sitting in my backyard and my neighbors have two weeks worth sitting in the alley.

I'm hoping for that. My alley has been drivable for days but the same DPW that picks up the trash also piled snow so high at the entrance of the alley. Brilliant! This will be interesting.
