Ice cream eyeballs? D.C.'s blogs
Good afternoon. Looks like the sun showed up after all. I'm loving the cooler temperatures and it's been fun to see pumpkins and Halloween decorations popping up around my neighborhood. In the spirit of the month, Dining in D.C. offers a roundup of Halloween-themed specials at area restaurants. Waterlog reports there's been a manatee sighting near Baltimore (now THAT would be an interesting Halloween costume.) But wait -- there's even more -- so read on. And before I forget, a big 'Thank You' to @washingtina and @famousDC for the Twitter shout out. If you're on Twitter be sure to follow their feeds too.
Endless Simmer presents – 10 food and drink words you’ve probably never heard of. Of course now that you know them, you can dazzle your foodie friends the next time you’re out.
I love the moody black and white photos featured on DC Metro People. Now here’s a brief trailer of a video project DCMP is working on. It’s proof that beauty can be found in the most unlikely of places.
Waterlog – the blog of the Baltimore National Aquarium reports that a manatee has been spotted not far from Baltimore. The manatee sighting was reported last week, but since them, aquarium officials report there have been additional sightings. It’s not uncommon to see these creatures in the waters around our area, but it IS a little cold for them this time of year, so the hope is this one – and any others – are heading south to warmer waters.
Dining in D.C. has a roundup of Halloween related specials at area restaurants. There’s a ‘Ghost Roast’ at Poste, a Halloween Story Time Tea at the Grille at Morrison House and I’d be remiss if I failed to note the ‘Eye Scream’ ice cream dessert at 2941. Really, you have to click through to see this one.
Four (or five) dating lessons a la “Mad Men” from City Girls World. My favorite? There’s still romance in writing.
That's it for now. Thanks for reading and have a great rest of the day. Remember: if you know of a great blog, let me know. Part of what makes my job fun is discovering new blogs.
