Ex-owner wants D.C. hospital back
The former owner of United Medical Center is asking a judge to give the hospital back, arguing that the D.C. government never had the legal authority to foreclose on the property and that Mayor Adrian Fenty and others made several missteps in the days leading up to the July takeover, the Washington Business Journal reports.
In a motion seeking summary judgment in the complex legal battle between the District and CMC Realty LLC, the ownership entity created by a subsidiary of Specialty Hospitals of America LLC, the company wants D.C. Superior Court Judge John Mott to declare the foreclosure invalid, returning all property to the control of Specialty.
