Fenty praises Gray at unity breakfast
Mayor Adrian M. Fenty (D) officially endorsed Vincent C. Gray in the mayor's race at a unity breakfast Thursday morning hosted by the D.C. Democratic Committee.
Fenty told about 150 party activists that Gray, who won Tuesday's Democratic primary, will be a great mayor.
"As a resident, I look forward to having Vince Gray as my mayor," Fenty said, according to David Meadows, executive of the D.C. Democratic State Committee.
Meadows added that Fenty told the activists they "are going to love Vince" and "love working" with him. According to a post from the party's official Twitter account, Fenty and Gray embraced and raised their hands together in the air in a show of harmony.
The event held at Israel Baptist Church in Northeast, attracted numerous local politicians and activists, including most council members and Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton.
