Fenty to unveil District budget
D.C. Mayor Adrian M. Fenty is expected to unveil a budget plan Thursday morning for fiscal year 2011 that could result in the elimination of 350 government jobs and the freezing of workers' pay, the D.C. Wire reports.
The mayor will present his budget proposal to the D.C. Council at 9:45 a.m. The District is facing an estimated $555 million budget gap. Fenty is expected to propose a refinancing that could save $54 million and hikes in parking meters and the city's 911 fee, a D.C. government source said.
