Fire damages house in NW D.C.

By Erica Johnston

Fire damaged a house near the Tenley Circle/ Friendship Heights area of upper Northwest Washington Monday evening, authorities said.

The fire was reported about 7 p.m. in the 3800 block of Huntington Street NW, near heavily traveled Reno Road NW.

It apparently broke out near a porch in the rear of the two-story wood-frame house, and extended to a kitchen on the first floor, said Pete Piringer, a spokesman for the D.C. fire and emergency services department.

He said the fire was quickly knocked down, but heavy smoke was reported in the house.

No injuries were reported.
