Funeral for Manute Bol today
The funeral for former Washington Bullet Manute Bol, who died June 19 at the age of 47, is scheduled for 10 a.m. today at the Washington National Cathedral.
The service will be open to the public and will be shown live online.
Bol, who towered over other players at 7 feet, 6 inches tall, suffered internal bleeding from complications with Stevens-Johnson syndrome, a condition he contracted from medication he took in Africa.
Bol played in the NBA for 10 years before becoming a board member of Sudan Sunrise — an organization working to promote solidarity in his native country, primarily between Southern Sudanese Christians and Muslims in Darfur.
