There's big cycling news for the District. The 2012 Giro d'Italia will get its start in D.C.
VeloNation and DCist are reporting that D.C. Mayor Adrian Fenty and race organizers will announce Thursday at the Italian Embassy the Giro will kick off in Washington.
It will be the first time a Grand Tour has ever featured stages outside Europe, according to Velo Nation.
