Skip lunch for a good cause: D.C.'s blogs
Good afternoon. Feels like . . . August? Yup, it's going to feel like that for the next two days, but file this away. You can think about it when temperatures start to dip into the 40's come December. After perusing today's D.C.-area blog offerings, might I offer a suggestion? Skip lunch one day this month. Read more to find out why.
If you're an architecture buff or if you just like to look at fabulously designed homes, Two in D.C. has some ideas for a Frank Lloyd Wright-themed weekend getaway in
Pittsburg.Pittsburgh (sorry!) Remember to bring the camera along.
In honor of Car Free Day (did you leave the car at home?) I offer this post from People Powered Arlington. Can you imagine pulling up to work in this baby?
One of Beyond DC’s great bloggers posts about being car-free for 10 years. “From time to time over the past 10 years I’ve considered buying a car. I’m not a zealot, just practical, and I haven’t taken the car-ownership plunge because I continue to find owning a car to be more hindrance than help.” Read more.
New Columbia Heights has the word on a new bocce ball league coming to the District. Can't wait for D.C.'s face-off with those goons from Montgomery.
On their CAFB blog, the Capital Area Food Bank tells us about their new campaign: Skip a Lunch, Feed a Bunch. Turns out Feeding America, The Capital Area Food Bank’s umbrella organization, has declared September National Hunger Action Month and they’ll be accepting donations throughout the month.
Last but not least, The Post’s sister publication, Express is sponsoring its annual “Best Of” contest, which includes a category for Best D.C.-area blogger. Here’s your chance. (It’s okay to vote for yourself) You'll have to scroll down a bit.
That's it for now. Thanks much for reading and have a great rest of the day.
